Is Rafael Benitez to be blamed for Babel’s lacklusterness?

In spite of the bright future that Ryan Babel appeared to have during his youth, he could never really live up to the expectations as the Dutch footballer made his way through various clubs around Europe but failed to become a world-class performer.

The biggest club that Ryan Babel joined in terms of trophies won was Liverpool which he signed for back on July of 2007 for a fee of around €12 million.

In 4 seasons, the Dutch footballer made 90 appearances and scored 12 goals as well as went on to receive various fines for his actions on and outside of the pitch.

During that period of time spent in Anfield wearing the Liverpool jersey, no piece of silverware could be lifted and he was eventually offloaded to the German outfit 1899 Hoffenheim.

Babel’s journey throughout a number of different clubs continued on but he failed to really make a mark and after just 1 or 2 seasons, he was always leaving or joining another team.

There was a point in time, when Ryan Babel said that it’s because of the former Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez that he failed to develop himself as a world-class player as the Dutch player said:

Ryan Babel continues his playing career by joining Besiktas

In spite of being one of the most troublesome players from the past decade, Ryan Babel still manages to join clubs and continue performing at a high-level as the Dutch footballer has recently joined Besiktas on a 2 year and a half year deal.

The 30 year old winger is believed to be earning around £3 million during his stay with Besiktas but for a player that has been involved with so many disciplinary issues, it’s rather surprising to see that there still are clubs interested in signing him and to secure his services.

Ryan Babel has consistently been fined and sanctioned in one way or another for some of the actions that he has made throughout his career. The Dutch player had problems during his time in Liverpool, Al Ain and Hoffenheim. He has even gone out to insult one of his previous managers, Rafael Benitez as Ryan Babel stated that it was because of Benitez that he has had so many problems in the past.

According to Babel, one of the biggest reasons of why he could not develop and live up to the expectations that was initially brought up back when Babel was just a youngster and was making waves in the youth academy of Ajax.

RYAN BABEL CRITICISE REFERRING IN MADRID GAME

Former Liverpool forward Ryan Babel took to his Facebook page to comment on the game between his side Deportivo La Coruna and Spanish giant Real Madrid.

Madrid stole a last minute winner through a powerful header courtesy of Sergio Ramos in injury time after the scoreline was held at 2-2. However, the game left the visitors raging due to the performance of the referee and match official.

Deportivo Coach Gaizka Garitano after the game said:

“When five minutes are added onto a game in which there was practically no time lost, we knew then that the stoppage time had been added so that Madrid could have a chance to score.

“Stoppage time seems to last longer at the Bernabeu, until Madrid score, full-time isn’t blown.”

Babel in his Facebook post claimed that Madrid influence referees.

Chris Smalling believes that manager Louis van Gaal is unlikely to change

Manchester United defender Chris Smalling believes that manager Louis van Gaal is unlikely to change his coaching methods due to a poor run of form. United are without a win in the last eight matches. This has forced to speculation that the manager might be sacked even before the end of the season. Van Gaal has a contract with United until the end of the 2017 season. The Dutchman only has a top four finish to show for his spending at the club. This coupled with the poor style of football has led to a lot of unhappiness at the club.

Despite the perceived unhappiness, Van Gaal is not the kind of person to suddenly disbelieve his coaching style. This is due to the impressive CV that he has from his time at clubs like Barcelona and Bayern Munich. The Dutchman has won numerous trophies in his coaching career, while also being responsible for bringing up top stars like Andres Iniesta and Bastian Schweinsteiger through the ranks. Smalling has been one such young player to benefit immensely from the presence of van Gaal. He has gone from being a player with potential to becoming a central figure in the England defence.

Ryan Babel might be reunited with Steven Gerrard in the MLS

Ryan Babel and Steven Gerrard played alongside each other a few years ago when both of them performed with the Premier League club Liverpool and even though they haven’t played in the same team in over 3 years, there is a possibility of them being reunited once again but only this time, in the MLS.

Steven Gerrard is playing for LA Galaxy meanwhile Ryan Babel is performing for Al Ain in Abu Dhabi but the Dutch winger is open to the possibility of making a move to the American League in the future and playing once again with his former teammate Steven Gerrard.

Ryan Babel announced the possibility of making a move to the MLS as the Dutch winger said: “America has always been a special place for me, since my youth. If it fits in with my career, it will be a challenge for me to play for a MLS team. If that would be Steven Gerrard’s club, then that would be very special.England is of course a great country to play in, and I’ll always be open for a return. But it has to be a club I feel good about. The reality is that England won’t happen at this moment.”

The career of Ryan Babel has not been a memorable one as the Dutch winger disappointed when he could not live up to the hype and expectations that originated after being signed by Liverpool for a transfer fee of €11 million.

After spending 4 seasons in Anfield and not being able to truly stand out, Babel went on to join a number of clubs including: TSG 1899 Hoffenheim, Ajax and Kasimpasa before eventually making a move to his current club Al Ain FC.

Babel believes that Rafael Benitez will turn C.Ronaldo into a defender

It has already been confirmed and announced to the public that Rafael Benitez left his managerial role at Napoli and switched over to Real Madrid as he replaced Carlo Ancelotti who was sacked a few weeks ago.

The decision of replacing Carlo Ancelotti with Rafael Benitez is one that has caused a divide among fans of Real Madrid as some supporters of the Spanish club believe that Ancelotti deserves a 2nd chance especially after the Italian coach managed to lift the Champions League title during his debut season as the head coach of Real Madrid.

Ryan Babel took a swipe at the newly appointed manager of Real Madrid, Rafael Benitez by saying that the Spanish manager will turn Cristiano Ronaldo into a great defender.

Rafael Benitez and Ryan Babel do not have a healthy relationship. Both of them worked alongside each other a few years ago with Liverpool but things didn’t work out in a positive way as Babel was signed by the Premier League club on July of 2007 for a transfer of €14 million but Rafael Benitez only utilized Ryan Babel as a substitute player.

During the 2008-09 season, Babel made a total of 27 Premier League appearances for Liverpool but 21 of them arrived from the bench and things didn’t change much as Benitez simply preferred putting other players in his starting XI and forcing Ryan Babel to stay on the bench for the majority of all the seasons that he spent in charge of Liverpool.
